T.G.I.F's

When you think of friday, you think ,"We made it another week and now its time to relax!" 'Two days without the boss!"

Well...not anymore for me.
You see, I have class friday's from 9-12 and 2-5pm. I walk up at 7, stand with every other person in toronto on the subway which is packed full to the brim, listen to a lecture, have lunch and sit thru the most boring class ever! Once 3pm rolls around I am dead. Like, class-isn't-over-but-I-want-to-leave NOW, dead. My close friends and I hate fridays now. Today my friends and I went to sushi for lunch, we were talking about how we dislike fridays because it's such a long day. My friend Vanessa said she loves mondays now since both her and me have the day off and hate Friday's.  Isn't it the opposite?! And, don't get me started on traveling home on a friday night at 5:30pm. It's insane.

By the time I get home by 6pm, I am a zombie. All I want to do is sleep and wake up saturday morning. Since sleep is over-rated I catch up on grey's anatomy with a cup a hot local apple cider. So good :) Sometimes, just sometimes friday's get a bit better.

Hi there! My name is Sarah. Currently a student at Ryerson University to become an elementary teacher. I know this is what God wants me to do. I am a Christian who is saved through love and grace. I try and please God in all that I do and I know he loves me when I don't deserve it.

I love reading the newspaper, drinking coffee, buying nail polish, and glamour magazines each month.

In order to pay for the nail polish addiction, I am a lifeguard and swimming instructor.

Thanks for popping over! Welcome :)

24 hours is not enough

No, I haven't dropped off the earth for good. Something called university is taking over my life. Correction: Mid-terms aka death is taking over my life.

It's getting so hard to keep up with everything these days. From school to work to excersing so I can lose 15 pounds for Ryan's wedding in may to seeing my family AND being social with friends. It's a lot and seriously? Can we get a few more hours in the day?

School is really good! I finally found a way to study for tests/exams that work for me no more just reading over the notes thinking that's enough. For those who have done college/university, how did you study?

I realized that I cannot study at home anymore. I used to think it was great, having the house to myself, mondays and wednesdays. Quiet. No one talking or being loud. But when the blogs are calling my name, and the cell phone calls my name, it's hard to actually study. My new routine is going to class, eating lunch and hitting the library for a few hours, since most of my class are in the mornings. On my days off I get ready and walk down the street to my local library and camp out there.

I do have to say that all the studying is paying off because I scored a perfect 100%, 10 out of 10 on my Human Development test this week! I could have cried in the middle of the library when I checked on blackboard. My parents were completly thrilled when I told them.

Last week I got an 87% (in Observations) on an exam worth 15% on my final grade! Again, could have cried.

I am ready for Christmas break, folks! Ready to kick back and relax. Only 5 weeks left off fall 2011 semester which is 37 days :) But who's counting ;)

another race

Friday I ran another 5k race! Hands down the best race ever! It was called Trek or Treat 5k or 10k by Saucony. The special thing and what made it great was that it was a trail run done at 8pm at night! There were no lights along the path which made it so spooky! Thankfully, everyone brought flashlights so we didn't get hurt! I almost died because along the route there are people who jumped out and scared the runners! All the people I ran with sprinted to get away from them.

I was telling my friend/co-worker Teah- last week- that I  really wanted to run a 5k soon. She told me about this race and we both signed up when we got home from work. She has always encouraged me to run and be healthy. My dad came along too, I always appreciate how supportive he is of me regarding running.

I was super nervous since I haven't run since late August, so I downloaded the app Couch to 5k to help. I ran 4 times this past week which did helped.

I am very proud to say that I ran the 5k without stopping! I always do 10:1's. Run for 10 minutes and walk for 1. When Teah and I got to 2.5k, I told her I felt that I could manage to keep running till the finish line, which we did!

Happy to say I finished in 32:59 :)
Such a fun night, now onto my first 10k!

Favourite days

The other day I got asked for the billionth time what my favourite day of week is. As I got thinking I realized all of the days of the week are my favourite. It's the truth.

Sunday:

It's my favourite because I spend the morning praise God at church. Going to church starts my week off the right away, being with God.

Sunday afternoons are last-minute, cant put this off anymore, afternoons.
Then? When 7pm rolls around, my butt is on the couch for 3 whole hours! Yes, 3.
First its Heartland. The show that takes place in Alberta, with cowboys :)
Then the Amazing Race and Desperate Housewives. Love it!

Monday:

Monday is pretty awesome since I don't have school that day. I sleep in that day and I love getting out of bed when no one is home and the house is quite.

It's a good day to spend blogging and reading up on blogs.

Tuesday:

I love Tuesdays because Teen Mom is on! Honestly when I'm sitting through my psych 101 class and remember that it's on, I get excited! I also work Tuesdays. Doesn't sound fun but I love the girl I work with!

Wednesday:

It's my second day off from school. I usually spend it studying. But, Wednesday nights Karen and I watch glee and the office and I really look forward to that time.

Thursday:

This day doesn't start off well because I have a 8am class, meaning I'm up at 5:45am!
I also work this night. The only good thing about this day? Knowing that Friday is tomorrow!

Friday:

It's Friday. TGIF! I have class from 9-12 then 2-5. Horrible? yes, but its Friday meaning the weekend!

Saturday:

This is self-explanatory.

What are your favourite days of the week and why?
*Today is 5 months till my birthday!

Cutest wedding.

I've been told a billion times I look like my momma here.

The beautiful Bride and the Groom
On Saturday, Karen and I were invited to Immanuel's and Jocelyn's wedding. We all go to church together. Im (pronuced: em) and Jocelyn have both been such role models in my Christian walk. Loved that I got to celebrate with them!

It was so nice to get all dolled up and go shopping for new things to wear!

The second last photo is the gift I gave the couple. Its from this store from etsy. It's a perfect gift for a couple who just bought their first house together, it would look great over the mantel. *My thoughts, wasn't paid to say the nice words*

Because it was a Filipino wedding (aka: lots and lots of family) we weren't invited to the reception after. That was perfectly okay, we understood and at least we got to witness Im cry when he saw Jocelyn walk down the aisle :) That my friends is the best moment of a wedding.

happy monday, friends!

Friday Randoms

Many things to catch y'all up on.

~I'm going to a wedding tomorrow! The sweetest couple from church are getting hitched and I was invited :)
can't wait to see you all the gift I gave them.

~School is going good. I've hit mid-terms so if I'm not around it's because my face is in a book. Different from facebook.

~I finally made friends! I had one friend named Joanne who I met back in august for orientation and we manged to get classes together. She made friends in her friday class with a few other sweet girls and we all started talking on day after class. I was going to go home right after class but I stayed and had lunch with them and that my friends is how I finally made friends!

~I switched from meetings to doing on-line weight watchers a few weeks back. I used to go every saturday morning at 10:30, now that I'm in school  I can't afford to miss 2.5 hours of my saturday morning for weight watchers. I need that time for homework. So I still follow the program and my "offical" weigh- in is saturdays. It's working!

~Not very news worthy but yesterday I hit over 1000 views to this blog!

~ My brother's wedding is 7 months away and I have decied I want to look smoking hot nice! I'll share my new numbers soon.

~ Heck, I'll share now.
Right now I am 147.8, down 11 pounds since I started ww, many moons ago.
I want to be at 135 by Ryan's wedding! okay, so there are my numbers!
I'm ready to change!

~I want to run another 5km soon. Just need to find on in my area.

Well, I'm off to study!
have a wonderful day, friends!

What I'm loving Wednesday

Never thought I would say this but I'm loving my new 'do.

Remember this post? Where I posted a picture of what I was going to do with my hair my next cut? Well this past saturday I got it cut.

Except what I wanted is not what I got.

I told my hairdresser who has cut my hair for years that I wanted side-swept bangs and for it to be cut to my collarbone, I even showed him a picture from the same girl.

I didn't see it being cut as my hairdress comes to my house (long story: but he is best friends with my grandma so he comes over, they have tea and he cuts hair)

Since its at my house we don't sit infront of a mirror, so I didn't see how short he cut it until it was done.
This is what I got.

It hits my jaw line! The bangs aren't what the pictured showed :(
I was so excited to have the hair like the picture, so excited that I cried.
Luckly Karen came over to help me style it since I didn't like it sunday, I even said I didn't want to go to church that morning!

Since all my dead ends are off, hopefully it will grow fast so it can be a my collarbone ASAP!
~

The past few days I'm learning how to style it so it looks better.
Funny thing is: I didnt really like it but everyone does!

happy thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving day to my Canadian friends! It doesn't feel like thanksgiving as we are having a beautiful Indian Summer. Seriously, its 25C today while normal for this time of the year is 15C!

Yesterday, wasn't just Sunday but "suffyourfaceday."

We had my moms side of the family over for a great meal that was yummy (as always.)
My family didn't get to see a lot of each other this summer so it was nice to catch up. I'm always thankful my brother comes to our dinners even though he lives 1.5 hours away. Danielle was working the night shift that night so she couldn't make it. Apparently she got her wedding dress though!

The food? was great. Of course it was because my mom made it but having a new stove not from the 1970's might have something to do with it ;)

I got some nice pictures that I'll share. None of me though since I got my haircut on saturday and it looks horrible. I asked for side-sweeped bangs, and wanted my hair cut to my collarbone. Now? My hair hits my jaw line and my bangs, hit about .5 inch above my eyebrows. HATE IT! I cried after. And you better believe I "googled" how to make hair grow faster.

Enough about me though.

Every Sunday Karen writes the dates for my sermon notes. This year
Last year
My Grandma made me a (mini) cherry pie for myself!

of course I played with Adam and Grace :)
It was a wonderful day to remember what we are thankful about.
Today's agenda is homework! And helping my hair grow :(

introducing...

...our new car! Well, my moms car.

Isn't she pretty?

My mom had a 2001 Ford Windstar (a big van) and the past year she has been thinking of giving to a new home. We bought the van because my brother was playing baseball and we were travelling every weekend and needed something we could all fit into plus put all his baseball equipment in.

Now? Its just my mom who drives it. She was getting really sick of paying for gas to fuel the big van when it was just her driving.

So, last weekend my dad went out and decided that the deal was to good to pass up and bought it. She came last night and my mom couldn't be happier.

It a 2012 Ford Escape.

Since I could remember my mom has been in love with the escapes and  always said that would be her next car, she has one now!

Excuse me while I go take her for a spin :)

Trust

My good friend Carey has started a month long bible study of the Proverbs 31 wife. Go check her out, even if you aren't married, a church-goer or a mother.

Today's verse is from Proverbs 31:11.
11: Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it. (The Message)

While I am not a wife nor a mother, I a lot struggle with trust. I have the hardest time trusting God. I know God has plans for me, as he has my life time-line laid out in front of him but? Sometimes I want to know what those plans are. For instances, I would love to know if I will ever fall madly in love and get married and of course make beautiful babies. God has said that that he doesn't want people to be alone, it's not healthy he has said. I remind myself of that a lot. Even though it calms my fear and puts my trust back in God, sometimes it's not enough. I have to put my trust in God, because worrying about marrying/kids isn't going to get me a husband or children.

I know that when I spend time with God in prayer, study and listening to songs those fears and the lack of trust goes away for a bit. One of the songs that is dear to my heart is by Jeremy Camp called Everlasting God.
Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer
You are the everlasting God

The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer
You are the everlasting God

The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary

You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
I don't want to that girl who obsesses over who will she marry and when she will have kids. I want to trust our Lord for all things. I want to be a confident child of God.

happy monday, friends.
